As for the light now coming right on after a full charge is achieved, That is normal for mine. After I charge the night before a flight I just can't just take it off and then put it right back on.
I am not an expert but I think the battery needs to be used or drain just a little to reset the charge safe. At least it seems that way to me. The light aways comes back on after a flight or 2 or 6
