Hi ,
At the Florida Jets this year I finally bought a Duralite Package i.e 4000mA RX Batt, 4000mA ECU pack and charger.
I used it for a couple of weeks until one day I put the Rx batt on charge and found that the charge indicator LED wouldnt come on.
I contacted Duralite and told them about the problem, after many e-mails we quickly established that the Rx pack was defective because a charge cycle could be initiated on the ECU pack
Duralite promptly sent me a free replacement 4000mA Rx battery although I was many 1000miles away (in India).
Now when I tried to charge the new battery and :

* the charge indicator LED was on
* the charging cycle is supposed to be 6hrs however the end of charge cycle indicated by a faint glow(as per instructions) did not
happen for 12~13hrs, is this normal?
* The voltage without load is 8.3V , with a 1amp load is 7.69V
* If I attempt to initiate a fresh charge cycle on the same battery the LED does not indicate charging.
* Of the 4 charging ports available only the last port (from the left) show a dim glow.

Is this battery safe to use ?
How do I establish that it is charged to full capacity ?
Why did the charge cycle not terminate in 6hrs ?
Even if the battery is fully charged shouldnt the LED indicate charging atleast for some time when an attempt is made to initiate a fresh cycle ?
I am new to this Lithium technology and therefore a little wary, other than that Duralite has extended excellent support.
Please confirm if this battery would be safe to use.

xantos, don't charge or cycle the battery. I don't care if it's six hours or 100 hours. Let it sit on the charger till the lights out. You have no idea how much capacity it needed to fill. 6 hours at 500 MAH per hour is only 3000 mah. so you know after a full day of flying it's gonna be at least an 8 hour charge.

What I do is charge all night night before I fly, and then put on charger in between flights (for no sum certain time frame, I just simply plug it in between flights) and that keeps it up to where I can fly all day without battery hesitation (I think the most I've put on the duralites is 12 to 15 flights in one day, 10 is average).

The voltages you indicate are PERFECT and exactly what you should be expecting.

Don't forget, do not leave the receiver pack plugged into the voltage regulator!! Put a switch between the battery and voltage regulator.

The voltages.

As for the light now coming right on after a full charge is achieved, That is normal for mine. After I charge the night before a flight I just can't just take it off and then put it right back on.
I am not an expert but I think the battery needs to be used or drain just a little to reset the charge safe. At least it seems that way to me. The light aways comes back on after a flight or 2 or 6
