Mid range torque is very much needed. Many 3D maneuvers are done at about 1/2 throttle. Having extra torque in the mid band would be a big plus when pulling out of a hover or torque roll. If you're not into 3D then no it really not worth it. Of course a side by side comparison of the two engines would really tell the story.
