Let's see.....it's been 5 days, and I still have not received a response, although there have been responses to other questions on other topics since my post.
Krysta ????
Seriously, I have been debating between a few different xmitters lately, and I have decided on your 7c.......it fits the bill perfectly, but if this problem still exists, I have some issues, and apparently, it still does. There's a gentleman over at another forum that just purchased a 7c with this bug. When he called Futaba, they said that this bug wasn't in all the units, and that he had to ship his brand new, never used unit back to you for repair...............and to make matter worse, HE had to pay for the shipping.
If, in fact, this is what happened, then this kind of customer service will keep me away from the 7c, as much as I like the unit.
I believe that the least that should have been done was for you to ship him out a brand new unit with a return slip for his return. That way, he wouldn't be inconvenienced of being without a xmitter and he wouldn't have to pay shipping, for none of this is his fault.........but rather the fault of Futaba.
I'm sure you will hear from him soon, but I haven't purchased the transmitter yet. I plan on doing so, but I need some assurances from you that if I do purchase it, and it has this bug, that I won't be put thru the same things that he has had to endure.
So.........................Where do we go from here ?.............I want to buy the 7c but I don't want to have to wait to get it repaired or to pay for shipping if my unit has this timer-throttle bug.
Well, it seems you beat me here! You have also expressed very clearly what I would like to have happen. Now here's the rest of the story so far.
Yes, I have the unfortunate experience of having just received a newly shipped (from the distributor to the store) brand new Futaba 7C. I had read about this programming glitch on these discussions, and contacted Futaba before getting mine. The support person acknowledged the problem had been found on "a few" of the 7Cs, but not to worry.
The first thing I did when mine was received was to charge the battery a little and then check for this bug. To my dismay, mine has this defect[:@]. I immediately got back in contact with Futaba service to get this fixed at no cost to me. They would not agree to pay for the return shipping.[>:] I elevated this to the next level of authority in their warranty department, and they again denied to accept my return shipping expense, plus said they thought this problem had been fixed on new units, so I must have gotten an old one from the supply chain (as if that makes any difference!) I got back in touch with the store who had special ordered this TX with my channel assignment, and they said their supplier had just received the shipment, so I should have the latest. They did not have another one to exchange, but offered me credit up to my shipping cost on future purchases as partial compensation. Now there is some customer awareness! [sm=biggrin.gif] However, I feel the store should not be the ones to eat the cost when Futaba has set the table.
So, I'm asking Futaba in this public forum to step up and resolve this issue at no cost to the consumer, starting right here. This is an acknowledged problem that still exists, and the solution is no different from any other kind of "recall action" on a defective product. The customer should not incur any extra cost, and even the loss of use of the product while shipping back is a big penalty.
Come on Futaba! I bought this TX, my first Futaba, based on the reputation, name recognition, and features, especially the unique throttle-linked timer feature that only you have and that is the very thing causing this problem. Here's a chance to win my trust and, from the sound of the originating thread post, more 7c sales! Or NOT!
