From everything I've learned and tried, I would not accept the unit. I would sent it back, and purchase something else. Though this may be an "accepted" trait of the gyro, it should not be acceptable to you.
Most people use a Futaba 401 which has no bad traits. Why suffer with a substandard unit. Return it and find something else.
