I started flying nearly 30 years ago and all there was was 4 channel Krafts, 4 channel Futabas, and 4 channel Airtronics plus a few other brands of which I can't remember the names. You had to set everything up with linkage and control arm throws. The rest was up to you to adapt to the shortcomings of the system. We flew nearly every day and had a ball at it. I guess it was ignorance but I never missed all the bells and whistles. I just flew. Guess that's why I'm so danged good today. Hah! Like REALLY Dude.
These newfangled computer radios are cool, don't get me wrong, but there are so many functions that you can mix together that some of them can really get you in trouble if you're not three mistakes high and really thinking about what you're doing.
Two weeks ago I lost my second Pizazz cause I was a dumbass and mixed in elevator with flaps. No problem there you say, well there is if you got way too much elevator in for the flap setting. Does a nose dive from 100 feet right into the ground before you can even begin to think of what to do to correct the problem. Oh well. Such is life. Some days you're the bug and some days you're the windshield!

If my brain could still get messages to my face you would be able to see the terror.[
