Yes I can see this is a workaround, the original instructions issued show a parallel set up and instruct you to use a set square to ensure the pushrods are at 90 deg to the aileron leading edge. This method of positioning the horn to the edge of the re-inforcement only stregthens my opinion that it has been made in the wrong place. The geometry shown introduces unwanted exponential and differential, we set petrol helicopter throttles up like this when using a governor because a non linear response is necessary.
