RE: Jett 76L Any one tried one ?
I bought a 76L BSE at the Toledo RC show. I can honestly say in my 30 years of involvement in the hobby it is the most beautifully engineered engine I have ever seen. After test stand break-in (The Dub Jett way) the engine performs flawlessly. There's just something cool about a .76 displacement in a .40 size mount. The 2 planes I have set aside for this engine are a Sig Somethin' Extra and The OMP "forty sized" Edge 540. I plan on running an APC 14 x 4W prop. I should run at 9500 rpm with this prop.
There is no way I can justify the money spent on this engine as something I "needed". I just came down to pure "I wanted it" as does every other dime I spend on a hobby that has given me untold joy for 30 years. I have a very understanding wife.
I have my sights on the 120L BSE that fits in a 60 sized mount. That should give the crop of 90 sized ships quite a ride.
Yes, they cost a lot for an R/C engine and Yes, they are a large cut above the rest. I have no regrets in buying such a unique and high quality product....and oh yes, they are American designed and manufactured just in case that is important to anyone out there.
I would bet money that Dub Jett subscribes to the saying: "I would rather explain price once, than poor quality over and over again".
