I've flown one, and it flys pretty well, but the landing gear was just like yours. It did okay when I flew it, but the guy that had it was only visiting, so I'm not sure how it held up. You might want to check into getting some Robart or Century Jet Models retracts for it. The Top Flight P-51 is about the same size, and the CJM P-51 retracts were great on a friends Top Flight.
