I have just finished the Hanger 9 Mustang and boy is it nice. I am concerned about the landing gear. I seems to be very, for lack of a better word, wiggley. Has any one else built and flown this model and how does the land gear hold up? I have an OS 120 in the front. Will fly it some time next week.

There are several threads about this in the warbirds section, and two or three different ways of fixing the gear. Also watch out for the firewall, as some people have had them come loose after a few flights. You need to also check to see if your cowl is fuel proof. Good luck Loren

I've flown one, and it flys pretty well, but the landing gear was just like yours. It did okay when I flew it, but the guy that had it was only visiting, so I'm not sure how it held up. You might want to check into getting some Robart or Century Jet Models retracts for it. The Top Flight P-51 is about the same size, and the CJM P-51 retracts were great on a friends Top Flight.

I saw one in action on our local grass field, and the stock gear appeared to be pretty flexible. On landing, the gear would flex backward, increasing the chance of nosing over. As you can see from the picture below, the right gear is flexing backward during a fast taxi.
