RE: servo sense
The receiver only meddles in the affaires of the signals being sent to the servos. The actual power is delivered through a common power "bus" on the receiver which can take a lot of current (typically). So, the general answer is "yes" you can use any servo on any receiver. It is the battery pack that determines the "power" available. There is a point at which the power sent to the servos will melt the "bus" in the receiver, but I imagine that a short-circuit or lightning strike is about all that could do that. The other consideration is that some "mini" receivers are designed for "indoor" use. i.e. they make them so small and light that they can not include all the amplification circuits in the receiver, and this reduces the range to about 100m instead of 1600m. If your receiver is *that* small then you should not be putting it in an out-doors plane. Anyways, a standard servo in an indoors plane will turn your plan into a car.
