I did put some thinned epoxy on the engine mounting box but I didn't worry about the inside of the fuse where the tank actually sits. If you look at the instruction manual it actually shows only cutting out enough of the fake engine for the head of your engine to show. You are right about it not being a long project. I had mine ready to fly in one week of a couple hours per evening.
