Default RE: Capiche 50

After doing phillybabys mod (one liteply underside sheet, instead of the outer ply and two blasa pieces), the whole UC area was stronger, but what was happening was the the wood was twisting free, so it wasnt a clean break, the wood was compressed on one side and pulled free on the other. This is what led to my UC are becoming angled back. I can say this because where the wood had been pulled away the glue had gone (thick cyano). You coudl say that if I had used epoxy it wouldnt break but what about the other side?

The reason for this is that the outer wood parts jutted out from the actual UC block, meaning plainly it was unsupported.

So what Ive gone and done is put wood pieces and some tri stock in the gap area and hopefully no more breaks, coupled with the nylon bolts of course.

I spoke to an Irish chap visiting our field, he had a C50 as well and he mentioned that he used carbon cloth to strengthen the area. It still broke so I thought the problem wasn't so straight forward. On the opposite side of the spectrum people has mentioned theyve had no porblems what so ever. Not one break or maybe just the one...

The skills of the builder play an important rule here of course. There is no way to say every C50 that has had an UC rip has been built to a good standard, some UC breaks therefore may be to the builder.

Just have to wait and see
