had the same thing happen to me with a firebird outlaw I picked up for my 10 year old son. Plane had twin props that control left and right, used thrust for up and down... Plane flew great with NO wind... I repeat no wind. you said you were flying with 5-10 mph gusts... with 2 foot wingspan, airplane rolled straight into ground and there is nothing you can do to save it.... at least the firebird was more durable.. crashed about 20 times hard until circuit board cracked... not worth the time to fix it....
