Default RE: SKYSHARK P-40

Rich , I agree 100% . When I inquired to CMP about the potential release I recapped the past failures and pitfalls of the ARFs P40 that have ranged from World models to Global and so on . There are many issues that ranged from the wrong cameo , outline , lack of counterbalance in the tail area, planes that appeared to be "B"& E combinations , bad gear position or P51 style gear on a P40 ect .
The P40 is a great plane but there are very few good ARF/semi kits with the exception of Yellow aircraft . You and I both have the VQ and its probably the best in its class but it still lacks a few basic aspects that would have made it a great ARF of the P40 .

Personally I think a ARF P40 needs proper outline in the tail with the proper counter balances shown , its needs flaps , and most importantly the cowl should reflect the proper curves . Add a good set of retracts in the proper position and you half way there to a nice replica of the P40 -E is my favorite version . There use to be a company in Pottstown Pa that made a 70" B version -fiberglass fuse , foam wing cores, it was an excellant version of the plane but I was not ready for WW2 at the time . I think the compnay has long passed but boy were the plane top notch .
