Default RE: In the doghouse...

Well, I am getting married July 22nd, 2005. Needless to say, there are lots of wedding expenses being incurred, and more to come. Spending money on airplanes is seemingly at the bottom of the pole. However, I am still trying to complete my first plane (LT-40) so I can get in the air. Once I am flying and have something to play with, I will be able to glide through the wedding expenses with the trainer. By the time, I am in a position to really need another airplane, I will likely be able to afford one.

Holding a degree in Accounting (almost - one more semester), she knows not to question my ability to make sound financial choices. When I buy an airplane, I have already analyzed it and convinced myself that it can be done with relative ease.

I have gotten remarks about how the money spent on airplane stuff could be put into dinners out and other "us" things. She has a point there, but I then proceeded to explain to her that airplane expenses can be capitalized and amoritzed over the useful life of the stuff, which in most cases is many many years. I explain to her that nice dinners cannot be capilized and are immediately expensed when incurred, since there is no future benefit, besides the initial dinner. She typically has left the room by the time I finish explaining the finances involved.

Anyway, she has a good understanding of the situation. She is going to train for her full-scale pilot's license in a year or two. Since we are both young and spry, my goal is to get her involved in both full-scale and R/C (As I am). We would have a great thing to do together that we both shared a common interest in. Traditionally, airplanes fall under the "male" category. My attempts may fail - but I guess I can continue to hope!
