The RAM guys had plans, at one point years ago, to incorporate a ring of magnets into the back-plate of a compressor to in effect create a built-in alternator in a turbine. Lars at Simjet actually did it. He spoke about it at Fla Jets '99 or '00. IIRC, he said that it worked, but the voltage was so damn high! It was dangerous and scared them and they never pursued it further.
That would be a pretty obvious outcome considering the RPM's these engines turn!
