I think it depends on what you are trying to replicate. For butt joints lay down strips of chart tape, primer over them, sand down until the tape shows, remove the tape and you have a panel. For overlapped panels lay down a piece of 1/2 " masking tape where the overlap occurs, prime and sand as before. For just lines use a panel line pen just prior to applying clearcoat.
