I think it depends on what you are trying to replicate. For butt joints lay down strips of chart tape, primer over them, sand down until the tape shows, remove the tape and you have a panel. For overlapped panels lay down a piece of 1/2 " masking tape where the overlap occurs, prime and sand as before. For just lines use a panel line pen just prior to applying clearcoat.

In addition to the advice already given, be advised that your model may not exactly match the drawings showing the panel lines. This happens because typically your model is not 100% scale in all respects. When this happens you need to make "adjustment" on your plane to get the layout to appear correct. A little artistic license works here if you understand my meaning. Aside from that, panel lines are one of the easier things you can do to spruce up your plane.

Adding panel line is quite easy. This is the first one I've done, it turned out well and it's one of the best things you can do to give it that little extra.

- get a 3view with lines
- draw lines on the plane
- place tape over lines (chart pak or equivilent)
- couple coats of primer
-remove tape
-admire

I found an easy and effective way using a Sharpie, pencil, and a little silver paint. Check out 25 hours detailing a 80" WM Zero ARF in my Gallery. Paul

I take and draw the lines on the fuse first (it gets covered with paint anyway). I have a long aluminum ruler and a flexable ruler for the corners. Then just lay the tape over the lines. It's not exactly too scale, but with the yoyo's I fly with it will impress them, hehe
