Default RE: Genesis steering capabilities (reduce turning diameter)

Hello Tyre pressure[8D].

Steering can be a problem sometimes and there are solutions if you want. Some are cheap and others are more costly.

You can coustom build/make the brake linkage rods so they are longer and will allow better leverage to be placed on your brake pads. This will involve more servo swing to allow these longer rods to operate properly. Usually this can be done with good results if you don't mind bending some steel. This is the cheap way to try to fix the "better brake" solution.

The other way is to buy a different servo which is stronger and will apply more pressure to your brake pads. I am going to cut and paste a previous posting from within my review of my Genesis on www.cengenesis.com ... I explain the specs of a couple different servos here as I hope you do not mind.

>>>>>QUOTE>>>HI Toto67 How are you doing? To answer some of your questions, The steering on my truck will not turn the wheels when the truck is sitting still either. It is really hard on the servo to do this anyways so I don't try to turn the wheels unless the truck is moving. You can upgrade to a stronger servo. There is the Airtronics Servo, Model 9435-8Z Heavy Duty Steering Servo. The specs are: Torque: 200oz.@6V, Length: 1-9/16" (39.5mm), Width: 3/4" (19mm), Height: 1-1/2" (38mm), Weight: 1.9 oz, Speed: 0.10 sec at 60 degree rotation, 6 volts. It is expensive $105US dollars and up but it is considered the BEST servo available. I may eventually buy this servo and use the stock Genesis steering for the brakes since it has more power than the stock brake servo. There is the Hitec/RCD HS-945MGJ HT 2BB Coreless Servo also. The specs are:Transit time: 0.16 sec/ 60 deg. @ 4.8v (0.12 sec/deg @ 6V),Torque: 8.8kg-cm (122 oz-in) @ 4.8V (153 oz-in @ 6V) and less expensive than the airtronics but still expect to pay $75-$90US dollars for it.

Some people have been switching the stock brake servo with a stronger one and have been getting very good results. ACE@, a member here just posted in this review and explained what he did to achieve better function of the brakes and such. I think I will do the same as he did as I appreciate awsome braking power,, strong and precise steering response when the truck is moving and If I replace the stock brake servo with a better one (HI-Tec 945MG) the throttle response will be very SNAPPY since the servo is soo fast,,I like SNAPPY. I ALSO use the Hi-Tec945mg for my 1/8 scale rc buggy's brakes. When I pull full throttle it is instantaneous with no servo transition lag.<<<<END QUOTE<<<<<

ANOTHER QUOTE from this review,,,,,>>>>QUOTE>>>>
Brakes work but if you upgrade the steering servo,,put the stock steering servo on the throttle-brake and harness the benefits!!<<<<END QUOTE<<<<.
This has been my experience with my Genesis. Take care,, Peace "O"
