RE: Typhoon 2000 (TEMPEST) modifications thread
That's a good question Steve. I THOUGHT this was all straightened out before I made this thread originally, but that was before the fire. And it's exactly why I'm making my own molds, cores etc for a new plane right here, myself.
Basically somebody will have to make a plug for the cowl and pull canopies. The cowl seems to be the worst problem right now, along with plans. If you're good with wood or just have a little patience, you can make the front end out of wood. It's not TOO difficult, about like building a Kaos front end, but a lot more sanding.
I really feel for Diana and all that the Lakins have been through, and I have no idea what the future holds. I just don't know. Again, all the more reason to do something different and make a clean break. Parts supply is one of my MAJOR beefs about ANY pattern plane, and I want to kill that problem.
All I can tell you is search around or get creative. I wish I had better advise, but patience is the most useful advise I can give. And yet it's dead in the middle of prime building season....... *sigh*
