No, you are correct... you don't need a 2 to 1 ratio. However "ideally" this is what you want. I have a 90-Funtana and with a YS 1.20 swinging a 16x6 APC and a Extreme Flight Yak with a YS 1.10 same prop. I can hover both at about half throttle and when I jam that throttle stick fwd the plane rockets out. I have flown a friend's 46 U-can-do with a Saito .72 and another friend's homebuilt with even less power. I try to hover those, but FOR ME it's pretty dicey having very little power left to pull out. The original thread started with polish smiley asking about hovering tips and if the Cox could do it. But I also would hate to see this person spend time and money on something he might later want to replace. It's just my opinion, but I always try to do things the right way once so I'm not later kicking myself. But in the same breath you are correct about not needing 2 to 1.
