Unfortunately, even if you layed a 1/2" thick slab of glass on a table with a 3/16 dip in it, the glass will bend.

If I were you, I'd shove a 2x4 "Leg" under that table right in the middle, then put shims between the 2x4 and the table as needed (IF needed)
