I just got a reply from Real Flight support. In a email this is the reply:

I do apologize for any inconvenience. Our server is down and will be
until after the first of the new year. I am sorry once again. Thank
you for being patient. They are doing new updates to the server.

during our regular business hours Monday through Friday 8am to 7pm
Central time. Be sure to have your computer specifications and serial
number for your software available at the time of your call.
