set it up as the manual states, that is what gives you the 90 degrees in relation to the servo and pushrod. I have attached photos of mine. This is at mid stick 5.5 degrees of pitch. I set my pitch curves to the manual on hovering from -2degrees pitch to +9 at full up. I am hovering around half stick with this curves.
