I don't see how a Z-bend will help. Just loosen the set screw on the engine throttle horn, move it close to the firewall, then move the carb to the closed position and tighten the set-screw. Should do the trick. If it binds at the high end, either limit the throw with the comp, or move the link in one hole on the throttle-arm.
