Im trying to line up the throttle linkage for my saito 100 but, ran into a little snag. At full throttle the arm gets real close to the firewall, so a regular clevis wont work very well since it will hit the firewall when the servo moves. Ive experimented with a cable and standard 2-56 rod. Which will be better? Anybody who has the saito 100 mounted sideways how did you hook your throttle linkage?
Here is some decient photos of my situation. Camera phone does so good!

You should be able to adjust the throttle arm on the engine so it doesn't get so close. Here's pic of my Saito 100 on my Lancair. If you loosen the set screw on the throttle arm, you can reposition it so it's not so close to the firewall on low throttle. If it gets to far, you may need to move the control horn in or out one notch on the engine throttle arm.

Just use a z bend and you'll be fine.....no use using a clevis when the engine is that close to the firewall. Be careful when inserting the z bend.....the throttle arm is plastic on Saito's. Make your adjustments at the servo end. If you have a computerized radio...even better.

I don't see how a Z-bend will help. Just loosen the set screw on the engine throttle horn, move it close to the firewall, then move the carb to the closed position and tighten the set-screw. Should do the trick. If it binds at the high end, either limit the throw with the comp, or move the link in one hole on the throttle-arm.

This looks like the ideal application for a quick-link. The hobby shop sells them. It's a cube of brass with a hole for your pushrod and a pin sticking out opposite the setscrew. Comes with a steel pushnut that holds the pin through your throttle arm.
Use pushrod material, not music wire. The pushrod wire is soft, and the setscrew will bite in - the music wire is hard, the screw won't make a dent in it, and will work loose. In fact, some people use thread locking compound on the setscrew. I've never used threadlock, just Dubro pushrods.
Good luck,
Dave Olson

How about this:
Make the throttle push rod about 4" longer than necessary.
Run it 2" past the throttle arm and put a curved 180 degree bend in it, facing back to the throttle arm.
Then use a clevis, quick link, or Z bend.

Ive seen some people who use a throttle cable with solder on the end. Then feed that through a quick link. Thinking that may work pretty well..
Another question. When drilling the hole for the pushrod, do you mark the hole at around half throttle since that is the furthest point the arm is going to be? Or do mark it at the half way point from half to closed? On top of it when the throttle arm rotates it also moves up and down, so there is gotta be some flex in the pushrod to accomidate it correct? hense my thinking on the cable.
