but if the sock is causing the springs to bind slightly then i would assume they are pushing them into the shock body as well. that would also create rub marks on the bodies. only you wouldn't see them till the sock came off. pluss your hiding your nice aluminum shocks that you already paid to much for i'm sure

the shaft and place where the shaft slides in and out of the body are the only places you really need to keep the dirt out of for smooth action. nothing actually slides up and down the body. sounds like you would need a sock for the inside of the spring to protect the way you suggest.
