Default RE: what engine is better?

Not intended as a blanket statement. The LA65 is an ok engine. Runs well. I simply suggested other alternatives I believe are better suited for the aircraft.

Considering the project involved, and my experience with the aircraft and engines....... I do not believe the LA 65 (60) is a good choice for the H9 P-51. The aircraft performs best, in all aspects of flight, with larger diameter props - in the 13" to 14" range.

My experience with more than one LA65 was that it was not as happy turning a 13x6 as it was running on 12" blades. The peformance of an LA65, on a similiar aircraft with a 13x6, which was ok, provide me with some real time feel for such a combination. Personally, I found the performance a bit low for the bird. The aircraft owner was disappointed as well, and eventually replace the engine with a ST75.

Thus my recommendations for engines that I suggested - based on better experiences with those.

Perhaps there are others with better peformance results. I will not dispute those. Just providing my personal recommendation.

And, if I had to pick one engine... I'd agree. Saito 100. Excellent match.
