I can't give you substantive comparison numbers, but as a rule the higher end (JA Engineering, Bisson, Abell R/C) wrap around Pitts mufflers will offer a little quiter operation than the side down draft types, and generally have pretty good performance. They also permit a smaller cut in the cowl at the side of the engine head than the round or down draft types.
