Default RE: How are the planes in Reflex XTR?

Brian,

I feel the same way. I was tired of the debate! I thought seriously about buying another plane or radio instead. I realized that as a club instructor, I hadn't learned anything new in the past few years, because people were always waiting in line for me, at the field, to help them. I never got to fly my own stuff. My students from years past were passing me in their flying skills. If I was going to learn anything new, a simulator was the way to go.

This debate on whether to purchase AFP Deluxe or Reflex, to a point, is silly. Everyone wants to believe they bought the "right" one. They will argue until they are blue in the face. I caught myself doing the same thing on our club website. I chose Reflex and I don't regret it. One of my best friends bought AFP Deluxe, and he doesn't regret it. Several others haven't bought anything and are caught up in the debate. One guy that doesn't own either one has about 3 hours on AFP Deluxe and maybe 15 minutes on Reflex. He is highly respected in our club, and he says, "hands down, no questions asked, AFP Deluxe is the winner". A national group he is a member of has been a supporter of AFP for the past few years, so he is biased, in my opinion. He doesn't have enough time on Reflex to make that call. I am sure that he will sway many people his way. It is a shame! Not because Reflex is better than AFP Deluxe, but because both sims have a lot to teach. Each one has its specialties. I was interested in the Torque Roll Training, and the realistic tip stall characteristics when landing. Reflex does this real well. On AFP Deluxe, I had a hard time getting into a hover, and it took too much time to do so, so it wasn't practical for me because of what I wanted to learn. The planes in AFP Deluxe, in my opinion fly too easy, and don't like to tip stall when landing. That didn't do me any good either. My friend that is supporting AFP Deluxe likes the fact that the planes in AFP fly easy. He may like that they resist tip stall. Whatever his reason, that is what is important to him. He has a company sending him planes to fly for free, so what do I know? I guess all I am saying is look at yourself and ask what you are interested in learning, then read in every forum you can and find the one that will teach you what you are interested in. After the purchase is made, don't look back. Second guessing yourself will tear you up. I came to this forum to ask specific questions about Reflex airplanes, not debate the people that are trying to convince us Reflex users that we made the wrong choice. I asked a legitimate question in an earlier post about Reflex aircraft and no one has bothered to answer my questions because this forum has turned into another of many debate forums. If you own AFP Deluxe, I am happy for you, I really am. I don't fault you for your choice, but this thread is entitled, "How are the planes in Reflex XTR?". Could we please turn this back into a place where Reflex owners can learn to get the most out of our choice of simulators???

I'll get off my soapbox now. I hope no one took offense, as my comments were not intended in that way.
