Also, you don't have to go with a futaba radio. you can get a JR 6102 which is also a mid-level 6 channel radio with all of the neat functions that the futaba has. Not saying one is better than the other, just wanted to make sure you know there are other radios out there. In fact, they are both about the same quality. You'll learn to love whichever one you buy. Just get one that is compatible with your other club members radios. If your club is mainly futaba, go that route. If they are JR, go that route. If it's a mix, then pick whichever one you like best (be it for price or features). buddy cording is not much of an issue anymore, as there are cords available now that will allow you to mix radio brands while learning. However, when you get ready to start programming those fancy features, it helps if someone at your field can help you the first time. Also, don't overlook the hitec and airtronics. I don't see much negative about those either!
