RE: question of collor...
I am going to throw my $0.02 in here.
1. Don't walk, RUN as fast as you can AWAY from the MegaTech engine.
2. For the little difference in money, get a 46 engine, not a 40. The power difference is VERY noticeable.
3. Get a USER FRIENDLY 46 ball bearing engine. OS AX, Thunder Tiger Pro and Evolution engines are all user friendly. By user friendly, I mean that 99%+ are going to run great right out of the box. There are a lot of good engines out there, HOWEVER, many of them require a "bit of fiddeling with" to get to run properly. The engines I mentioned will require little, if any fiddeling, to run properly.
4. Since the MAJORITY of trainers fly pretty much the same get one you like the appearance of. I highly recommend an ARF for a first plane. Hobbico SuperStar and Avistar as well as the SIG LT-40 are some of the most popular.
5. You have the correct idea with the 6EXA radio. I highly recommend a 6 (or more ) channel COMPUTER radio.
6. BEFORE YOU BUY A RADIO, go to the flying field and find out 2 things. What brand is used by the MAJORITY of the flyers and what are the LEAST USED channels. Get that brand of radio and on one of the least used channels. Manuals are good, but when you have a question/problem a live person with knowledge of that brand is much better. By getting the radio on one of the least used channels you will minimize your waiting time for the channel to clear so you can fly.
