You definitely have to have something to heat the glow plug, and a "glow driver" with rechargeable battery seems to be the best choice.

Oddly enough, I bought it at Hobbytown in Dallas. Our Hobbytown doesn't have a lot of airplane stuff but they do have 2 guys who are pilots and are knowledgeable enough to help you.
