The glow plug does not get charged. Connecting the glow driver to it heats a wire element like is in a toaster. The wire contains platinum and other materials that react to the alcohol in the fuel. The heat from the glowing element gets the engine running. The chemical reaction between the fuel and the element keep it glowing after the battery power is removed.
