I would be very leary of batteries that old. At least run them through a cycler a couple of times and, if they are providing at least 80% of their rated capacity, you could probably get by. Also check to see if they self discharge at a normal rate as there may be seperator deterioration that will increase the self discharge rate to an accessive amount. New batteries would just be cheap insurance.
