Yup, but it's not so easy to purchase a JR compatible non-computer 6 channel radio anymore. One of the great things about the RD6000 is that it'll function just like a non-computer radio if that's how you want it to behave.

Use it in its basic mode until you really do need some of the more advanced features. There's room for both comfort and growth there.
