Default 6 channel radio help???

I want some advice on whats a good 6 channel radio to get? I have a JR Quattro pro and I'm not big on computer radios. I just want a 6 channel radio that works good for a good price. As price is a BIG factor. I've seen the Tower Hobbies 6 channel but don't know if it's a good radio or not, but it does offer the most bang for the bucks. Whats ya'lls thoughts?

What about the for sale column here or Ebay. Could pick up a nice T6xas or something that hold multiple planes. If price is a factor, going cheap now could cost you later. You get a basic six channel but what do you do when you start acquiring a hangar full.
* Make an attempt on a computer radio which holds several planes. If all your planes are on the same channel as mine (9planes) If something goes wrong, I can rake out a receiver from another plane for an immediate fix, and replace it later.

Personally, I am a Futaba man. But only because that is what I have. I am a firm believer in keeping things the same. That way, I don't have to worry about what servos I can use with which system, etc. If you feel the same way, I would say that the JR XF631 ($199) is what you're looking for, If you don't care about buying other brands, look into the Futaba 6YG ($169) or 6DA ($179 - same as YG but also has mixing functions)

Thanks for your advice but I don't see the need for a computer radio. I guess to say I've been at it since I was 7 and my father started flying before they had computer radio's. Your thumbs did all the computing as far as throws etc. So setting up a computer radio would be a whole nother task although I have seen some interesting ones. Such as those that allow you to mix your flaps switch with your ailerons to have flaperons etc. I'll look into them and might decide to go with one.

Of the computer 6 channels, Airtronics RD6000 has the best features. I've found mine very easy to use as well. It'll also be compatible with your JR receivers, which is a plus.

I realize that you are NOT looking for a computer radio. The ones I suggested are not computer radios. They do however, offer some mixing functions that are pretty much standard now days.

SigKavalier:

MinnFlyer gave you the best choices. I'd go for the 6DA by Futaba. It's a non-computer radio but has manually adjustable travel controls for your 4 main channels. The price is $179 at Tower.

Good Luck......................Pat

Default 6 channel radio

You might want to go a better brand than Tower Hobbies. The transmitters are ok, but I have heard some complaints about the servos that comes with it. The same goes for Hitec. Futaba and Airtronics seem to be the most reliable. I have standard Futaba radios but if I was going for a programmable, I would go for the Airtronics RD6000. It will do everything you want and the info screens make it very easy to use.

Yup, but it's not so easy to purchase a JR compatible non-computer 6 channel radio anymore. One of the great things about the RD6000 is that it'll function just like a non-computer radio if that's how you want it to behave.

Use it in its basic mode until you really do need some of the more advanced features. There's room for both comfort and growth there.

I really don't see a problem with Tower stuff, they are basically renamed Futaba's.

Default 6 channel radio help???

Well my biggest thing is cost and simplicity. I like things to be simple. I know this isn't a hobby to be broke to start with but I'm broke because I'm addicted lol. Right now I've got 1 radio, 1 receiver, 8 servo's, 2 motors, and 5 planes lol. I've got a GWS Zero which is fun, a Sig Kavalier, a Strudy Birdy 2 that I couldn't resist because he had it marked so cheap, a Sure Flight P-39 that I couldn't resist that I got off ebay for $39, and a Sophisticated Lady glider. I want the 6 channels because I'm a warbird person and would like to be able to have retracts and flaps, plus my glider needs flaps. So after looking around I may go with the Airtronics but can anyone tell me if it will allow me to mix the flaps with the ailerons? I've heard of people doing this with some radios. It droops both ailerons like flaps but still gives you some aileron control without having to double your servo's and split control surfaces. But as I said the biggest thing is price and for $109 without servo's the Tower Hobbies one caught my eye but I'll look around. Thanks for your suggestions I'll look into all of them and see which one I like.

Default 6 channel radio help???

Hey Texan that funny I had gone to the Tower Hobbies site after posting and started re-looking at the suggested radio's. I think the Hitec is the one I'll go with because I actually was still leaning toward the Tower Hobbies radio when I realized it didn't do v-tail or elevon mixing. Also the price is right on it as that about what I paid for my JR Quatro Pro. The JR Quattro is a nice radio I only find the lack of retracts or flaps annoying. Plus everytime I see a neat delta or V-tail I have to pass or buy a mixer. So thanks for all you advice I don't think the Hitec is the best of the bunch but for the money I thinks it's the real bargain.
