You can try taking it apart and cleaning the oil out of the bearing/shaft area,,that might give you some more life out of it, but it will completely fail on you,,just a matter of when,,,

I got one of those 8-ports in a trade,,,the damn thing stopped working before I finished the break in,,you are way better off getting the stock back plate and buying a nice Ofna "true start: box,,you willl be happier in the long run, JMHO

$20 for a new pull start that will break again vs. $100 for a pull start set up that will be reliable for years,,you do the math
