1. Not sure about mode changes..I think what you are describing is Mode 1..and I think you fly mode II....some radios let you change this in the programming. The main problem I see is re-programming your brain.
2. I use the mixing you describe on a few planes...you have to run a servo on each aileron, but a single elevator servo will do fine. On Futaba I use a 2>6 mix, 1 ail in ch 1, ele ch 2, other ail in ch 6. Then flip a switch for flaperons (ailerons both go down as elevator goes up, both ailerons go up as elevator goes down...like a control line stunt plane) or spoilerons (ailerons go up as elevator goes up, ailerons both go down with elevator going down). Seems like you have a JR, but I'm sure it will do the same thing,, prolly just called something different...ailerons aren't on ch 1 if I recall...
