Yes, you need to have the brass eyelets in when you mount the servos. The eyelets go into the rubber grommet fromt he botton (not the top). Place this on you mount and screw from the top. Tighten the screws to the point were is comes in contact with the rubber grommet. If you've been mounting the servos without the brass eyelets you've been lucky that you haven't had a failure yet.
