RE: Model plane vs. sim plane
Take it all with a grain of salt. Sims are great, some wayyyy better than others (ahhemmmm) IMO G2 is crap and so is G3 but AFP and AFD pro and Deluxe are awesome. Do a thread search on Sim flight physics and it explains all of the reasons in detail and why you will be unpleasantly surprised when you finally get a plane on RF to hover and try it at the field and its not even close. And yes that includes the big downloadable planes for RF too. Nothing on RF G2 can simulate an actual hovering plane, the program lacks the flight physics to recognize prop wash. Among other things thats a major one. They tried to rectify it in G3 but IMO they didnt. And AFP came out with AFD which improved on an already increadible sim for 3D flying. Now granted no sim will exactly duplicate your model at the field because there are too many differences between yours and the computers its just common sense. But to help improve the realism increase the sime speed to 115% and add variable wind not too crazy just enough to simulate thermals and gusts. That will make your learning experiences really sharp. Now I got all of the planes on RF including the downloaded ones to hover and to what I thought quite well too. At the field OMG i almost dumped my morris profile which is by far one of the eaisest 3D planes out there. Then on AFP i used it was like learning all over again but in a different way and in 3 flights at the field I was almost touching the tail. The difference to me wan not that they flew identical it was a totally different way of correcting the plane in a stalled state. Best way I can describe it. Good Luck hope this helps.
