Large scale models, typically 1/4 full size or larger use gasoline motors a lot.. the planes are generally too large for the typical glow or four stroke motors seen in models.
There are high output servos available.. these are sometimes used in parallel and series depending on the surface size and use for the model.
There's two types more or less... one is a scale replica of any plane, built to resemble that in every aspect, including performance... slow where that's appropriate, and fast....
The aerobatic large scales are not for the novice. These planes require major investments in the motor and the radio, and lots of flying skill.
The more scale types can be as expensive, but sometimes are easier to fly.
