Default RE: Funatan 40 Best Engine???

ORIGINAL: Razor-RCU

The Saito-82 and YS-63 would be my top choices--- I have a Supertigre G-90 swinging a Zinger 15x4 wood (2 cycle) in my Fun-40 and it is a blast to fly. Obviously OVER-powered, but I get a kick out of it--- and I am no 3D expert-- Amazingly the CG turned out perfectly with that big 90 on there...Hmmm

Cannot imagine flying this airplane on a 46FX, I am sure it would fly IMAC style ok but it begs for extra power I.E. Saito-82 for any hovering type maneeeuvers- An Irvine-53 or OS-50SX and maybe 13x4 would work alright---

Keep us posted!
I'm not surprized at all that the G-90 balances so well. Especially without a cowling or wheel pants. These planes are very tail heavy especially with a 46FX/AX or Irvine 53. You need an oversized engine to balance it well. The Saito 91 or 100 would be great. Funny thing is that the new F90 is also very tail heavy as well. A Saito 180 balances perfectly.
