Britton,
The Saito will be just fine. It is built in a 70 size case so is light for the displacement. As far as a "better" engine it is up to personal prefrerences. I had an OS 91 in mine. A friend had a YS-63 in his. Both planes flew well. In any case low end torque is what you want. The fuselage is a little weak from not having a lot of wood left after the wing cut out is done. Keep an eye on it.

YS 63 works pretty good for me. The thing just screams.

The Saito-82 and YS-63 would be my top choices--- I have a Supertigre G-90 swinging a Zinger 15x4 wood (2 cycle) in my Fun-40 and it is a blast to fly. Obviously OVER-powered, but I get a kick out of it--- and I am no 3D expert-- Amazingly the CG turned out perfectly with that big 90 on there...Hmmm

Cannot imagine flying this airplane on a 46FX, I am sure it would fly IMAC style ok but it begs for extra power I.E. Saito-82 for any hovering type maneeeuvers- An Irvine-53 or OS-50SX and maybe 13x4 would work alright---

Keep us posted!

I'm not surprized at all that the G-90 balances so well. Especially without a cowling or wheel pants. These planes are very tail heavy especially with a 46FX/AX or Irvine 53. You need an oversized engine to balance it well. The Saito 91 or 100 would be great. Funny thing is that the new F90 is also very tail heavy as well. A Saito 180 balances perfectly.

I originally had a 46FX and it was not enough. I bought a Saito 82 and this in my opinion is the perfect engine for this plane. I have plenty of power fo pull out of a hover and no mods were needed to bolt it in. I have a friend who had a funtana 90 with a YS 63, he flew my plane and said he thought the saito 82 had more power. I am only using 15% nitro, could go to 30% but it is not needed. You can't go wrong with the Saito 82!

Yes My name is Britton, but I use Britt. I have had about 7 flights so far and cant get the CG set up well. In order to get the CG within the limits I had to add an entire pack of lead to the nose. So the CG is now within the limits of the manual but seems very nose heavy. inverted flight requires 1/2 up from nutral this indicates it is nose heavy. What prop works well with the saito 82 on the Fun 40? Thanks
