Default RE: AMD Hawk.

Hi All,

This AMD is a knock-off of JHH's Hawk. AMD is selling the Hawk and uses Larry Wolfe and Jet Hangar's name without paying Larry a penny. I don't recommend anyone of us buying knock-off that use the designers' names without the designer's permission. This is a clear violation of copy-right. Check out JHH's website for more info on the unauthorized copy.

I owned 1 Hawk but crashed it during a cross wind landing. When I try to find a replacement , I checked out the AMD's knock-off. I did not like the constructions at all for it's poor quality and missing parts. I don't think AMD really know what they are doing. Putting a turbine on this plane is suicidal. Just be careful.
I think you better call Jet Hangar to find out more details on these knock-offs.

I think there has been a misconception about the AMD-JHH hawk. The first one is the JHH never made the ARF hawk here in the US, it was manufactured in China from the get go. The factory that JHH got the hawk from is still making the hawk, I suspect that the contract expired with JHH or they wanted to increase sales so they started selling to other distributors, which I tend to believe, I think JHH was just selling the hawk for way too much $$$ and the factory probably wanted to increase sales, look at the market there are a ton of fiberglass fused warbirds the same size as the hawk selling for less than $400 and they are of good quality there is no reason why this hawk needed to be $750, I think the JHH site may have more emotion than fact on it about the newer hawks.. imo

I have owned both an Original JHH hawk, and a newer model AMD hawk purchased from www.kmp.ca and I can say without a doubt that the KMP (AMD) hawk is built a "LOT" better than the original JHH hawk that I owned. The main difference was the finish of the fiberglass and the installation of the formers. The one purchased from KMP has a flawless finish and does not have the unsightly seem running down the middle of it like the original JHH, and the one purchased from KMP doesn't have any gaps in any of the formers in the fuse the original JHH one that I had had a ton of gaps in the formers and didn't feel as solid as the new KMP one. I have yet to fly my new one, but i will report here how it flies, however I can say from pure construction stand point it is a HUGE improvement over the original JHH hawk.
