Not sure about the shims but one tip for more power is to file the exhaust header opening so that it matches the opening in the side of your engine. Basically all this does is allow the engine to clear its exhaust gases quicker. The by-products of the engine doing this however is cooler temps so you can lean out more, plus the engine will rev higher giving you more top end! Happy days!!
