Default More power for my MT2

I read somewhere in here about some power hints. Is it bad to take out the shim from under the cooling head? I removed the cooling head and there was only one shim. Should at least one be there?

I don't really know if it will hurt it, it think it is just like a gasket but check on that before you start it. Also check the piston travel so it doesn't hit the glow plug. If it does and you don't notice it, you will break either the piston or connecting rod.

Hey CEN, can you answer this?

I thought about trying it.

Not sure about the shims but one tip for more power is to file the exhaust header opening so that it matches the opening in the side of your engine. Basically all this does is allow the engine to clear its exhaust gases quicker. The by-products of the engine doing this however is cooler temps so you can lean out more, plus the engine will rev higher giving you more top end! Happy days!!

Nice find scouser! I'm so busy trying to race prep this beast I haven't examined or broken the motor down yet. Will this effect the tunned pipe? Would tweaking the pipe squeeze out more horse power. Or would the ripple tuned pipe be better for this modification. I'm currently running stock motor and exhaust system. By the way Scouser and Cenracer,(and many others), keep up the good work. Seems like every time I think I've come up with a good idea I'll get on the forum and see I've been beaten to the punch. You guys have been invaluable and I'm learning a lot. Thanks

The shim also doubles as a gasket so you should have a least one. I am not sure about porting but a tuned pipe will definetly help.

Taylormade, I read through alot of the forums on the RC Universe site and by far the most resourseful and creative rc owners are CEN owners. Some of the solutions to the problems truly are ingenious and like yourself I am constantly learning from forum contributors who never cease to amaze.

that is the truth... I have several other trucks and none of their forums have anything creative.... more like bashing everything else out there and who makes the latest huge engine or titanium upgrade that nobody can afford... I always look at this forum first and then the electric forum nest... some good advise there... then I usually log off.. nothing else worth my time... Maybe its me, but I cant figure out why someone would want to spend thousands of dollars on shiny parts that are too expensive to use.... My $$$$ go towards durability and speed....

Agree 100%. I will admit that the Crazy Nut head was an extravagance but everything else was done for strength and durability. Most of the other forums are filled with questions like 'which truck is best?' or 'which is the fastest?'. Here at the CEN forum we avoid all these trivialities because we already know we have made the right choice already. [8D]

Okay, since I only had one shim, I will leave that in. I ordered a pipe from ehobbies. I had a link to a page that explained grinding the opening with pictures but lost it in my many rc links. Anyway, I received my pipe today and as with all CEN parts, no instructions. Does anyone have this pipe? The nipple sticks straight out. It seems like a 90 degree nipple would work better. Did you change this?

angle the pipe so it doesn't pinch the pressure(return) tube...... it should put it at the correct angle.... Instructions... what are they?

If that is the CEN pipe I had the very same one and it gave a nice boost in power on the top end. So much so in fact I lost control and crushed the pipe by sliding sideways into a stack of bricks!

Hey. I have an MT2 and even before I got to drive it (i live in Hong Kong so I dont get many chances unless I take the KCR Train to the Mainland on the weekend) I bolted in a Team Infinity 528 Samurai (.28 size). So Im not really sure what the car is supposed to drive like with the standard engine. Which i might add I have still and it has never been started, so if anyone wants the stocker NT16 let me know.
It runs very well with the .28 engine in it. The only Issue I have is that the rear exhaust system colides with the upper deck. I have the JT chassis installed but I kept the front upper deck so that I can mount the fuel tank.
The car drives like a bat out of hell at the moment, I have only had it running for about 5-6hrs in total now, though it's hard to control, if that says anything (on cement only atm).
If you want pictures let me know and I will fire up the digi and show ya all.

Love to see those pics on the forum. A .28 in a 1:10 fun factor? Surely it spends most of its time on the roof? Must be pretty hard to control, or indeed keep in radio range!!

Yes well... *ahem* (clears throat)...
Today I got a chance to take it out for a squirt.. It just seems to want to flip over all the time. For example, if you take off hard, after about the 2nd meter it will pull a wheelie and just flip right over... A real pain in the neck. Especially when it rips the exhaust off.
I will get some pics tonight, dirt/grass and all.

Sorry to hijack the thread.

I use the standard clutch atm, though I can see that changing soon.
