Default RE: NEW QUEST

My Quest -2 flew today. It is powered by an old YS 91 so I had worked on keeping it light. It all paid off. The 91 using a 13 x 10 APC pulled the new Quest-2 with total authority.

The plane performs much like its precessor. The snaps are much better and the spins work well with rudder and elevator only.

On my first Knife-edge test I was on low rudder rate and when I 1/4 rolled and applied the rudder it performed a 1/2 loop in the KE attitude. The low rate rudder is now my high rate and I am only using about 1" each way on the pattern setting.

It was a bit breezy, (it's March!), cross-runway and bumpy, but so far the KE looks like it needs no rudder mixing with aileron or elevator. High-Alpha KE's were easy at not much above high idle. Slow rolls were very easy to do and the loops were right on all the way round. The strong rudder allowed for very good wind correction.

Landings could be slowed down to a walk and very gentle.

What else can I say, "It's a Quest that is better than before".

Regards,

Eric.
