Default RE: Extra 2X2

Hi Guys,

We had our first really good spring day this weekend in the UK and I had a ball with my 2x2 - previously I'd only been able to test fly it and little else.

We went for an electric setup and power is via the new Model Motors AXI 5330/18 turning a 20x11 APC-E prop with a 10S3P TP 6000 lipo pack. AUW is 6.2 Kg. The manual suggested about 3 degrees of right thrust for a Plettenburg outrunner (which was our starting point) although I found that a little more was required even though the 20x11 is probably a slightly under-propped configuration for this motor. Model Motors actually recommend 20x13 for F3A type applications but for first flights we started out with the 20x11.

So far I've not been disapointed. It will prop hang at just under half-throttle. The model has a really "locked-in" feel in flight. Knife-edge flight is very good with no noticeable elevator coupling (motor has 1 degree up-thrust) and you don't have to put in much rudder before it will start to climb. It is absolutely brilliant and makes an average stick-twiddler like me look like I know what I'm doing. Snaps rolls are just awesome

So far I've only been putting the model up for about 7 minutes at a time and it looks like it's only been consuming around 3000mAh per flight. I recon a good 12 minutes of fairly spirited flying is not unreasonable to expect. I'll start to push it a little more over the coming weeks.

I love the way this thing flies - simply brilliant.

Phil
